"This Violence Must Stop!" Pres Obama

President Obama speaks out against the turmoil in Libya. Many people are asking why he is talking about Libya instead of dealing with issues within our own country. To those people I say he has been dealing with the issues in our own country! Today he also condemned the Defense of Marriage Act, saying he would not back it and that it was unconstitutional. I may not always agree with our President, and I did not vote for him. But he is still our president and I have to commend him for speaking on these two issues. Protesters in Libya are being executed for peacefully protesting. Libyan forces are not allowing us to extracate American citizens from Libya. The people of Libya have spoken and they want to be treated like human beings! I feel that if we can help then we should! No person should be executed for standing up for their beliefs no matter where they live! To the Libyan people, I stand beside you! You deserve better than what you have! You deserve the basic rights such as freedom of speech and freedom from oppression!

I may just be a stay at home mom, but that does not mean that I shut the world around me out. That does not mean that I do not feel for these people, and other oppressed people around the world. We can no longer shut the world around us out. To make this world a better place for our children, we must do something! Stand for what you believe in. Let the powers that be know you are not happy with something if you are not happy with it. Let the powers that be know that you will not stand for oppression or denial of rights! One voice may not be heard, but if we stand together and shout as loud as we can, I assure you, someone will hear us!
