Idiocracy...
There is evidence of it everywhere you look, if you actually open your eyes. The idiocracy and stupidity of people still astounds me sometimes. I can not fathom why and how people can be so stupid. I thought that man had evolved. Or at the very least man is supposed to be smarter today than he was centuries ago. So tell me why each and every day I find new and very disturbing evidence that people as a whole are the dumbest animals on the planet. I am not saying that everyone is dumb. On the contrary. When you look at the individual, he is smart (unless you are, by chance, looking at that guy that has smoked so much marijuana in his life that he has absolutely no brain cells left). When you look at humans as a whole, or a large group, that is where the stupidity really shines. Sometimes it is astounding. If you want to know what I am talking about, just open your eyes. The evidence is all around you. Just click in the navigation bar at the top of your screen and navigate to any website that displays news stories, click on the news story of your choice, and after you have read the informative (albeit slightly biased because there is not a news source other than free ones that is not biased in this country) piece, keep scrolling down to the wonderful comments section. Almost every news site has made it capable for the masses to comment on each and every story that they post on their site. Read some of those comments. There will be comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the story at all. Undoubtedly someone will have made the story about how it is Bush's fault or Obama's fault when there are more people running this country than the President or the story may have nothing to do with anything the President would have control over. There will be those idiots who make the story about race when in fact there is nothing that suggest race was a factor. Someone will be the instigator whom chooses to start fights via the forum with just about every person commenting and actually has no opinion on the story whatsoever. And in one shining moment there will be the person that chooses to cite their religious beliefs as fact to explain something in the story or claim that someone in the story is right or wrong.
My favorite story involving the latter has got to be a story I read on AOL.com about the discovery of a dinosaur fossil. After reading the story about this fossil, I promptly scrolled down to the comments section to see what others had to say. I immediately regretted that decision. One of the first few comments I came upon was this man spouting information that the fossil had to be a hoax and blasphemy because according to The Holy Bible, the earth was only 6 thousand years old and that it said nothing about dinosaurs so they did not exist. He even cited sources supporting this. I have to admire him for sticking to his guns though. Despite all the evidence (including HUGE skeletal remains) that the earth is more than 6 thousand years old and that dinosaurs did exist, he still claimed that because the Bible did not mention it, it did not exist. He wouldn't even hear that maybe the books that contained information regarding dinosaurs could have been lost (there is evidence that many books may be missing from the Bible).
I seem to have digressed. All it takes is for one to open up one's eyes to the stupidity around him and he will understand exactly what I am talking about. I do not mean this to offend anyone, and if it does I do apologize. I understand that the story I told may offend some Christians and I want to assure you that was not my intent. I have read the Bible and most of my family is Christian (As I was until I was 13). Once again if I have written anything here that offends anyone I do apologize.
